To install an iBook on your iPad manually is pretty easy.  Use the following steps to properly install a downloaded iBook.

  1.  Be sure to download and install the free iBooks application.  Make sure you have  the latest version: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ibooks/id364709193?mt=8..
  2. Download the current iBook the you want to install.
  3. Connect your iPad to your computer with the iPod dock cable.
  4. Launch iTunes and make sure your iPad shows in the sidebar.  It should appear in the devices list.
  5. Drag the iBook file onto your device in the sidebar.
  6. Let the file transfer to your device.
  7. Disconnect your iPad by clicking the eject button and removing the cable.
  8. Launch iBooks on your iPad and browse to the installed iBook.  If you don’t see the bookshelf, tap near the top of the page to open the Nav bar.
  9. Then tap the library button. Tap Collections and choose Books.
  10. Choose the book you want to view.
